Miller Knight are proud to be a FIRAS accredited company and use FIRAS certified and qualified operatives for our works.

When it comes to ensuring quality and compliance in relation to Fire Protection, we advise our clients to always use only FIRAS accredited installers. Even if this is one of our competitors…

The reason we say this, for those of you who may not know a lot about FIRAS, they are a voluntary, third party certification for installation contractors of both passive and active fire protection systems, operated by Warrington Certification, and accredited by UKAS.

This means that companies who are FIRAS accredited are regularly vetted to ensure their works are carried out correctly to the highest possible standard, using the correct materials and in accordance with the latest regulations.

Unfortunately we are finding more and more often in the Construction Industry that the Fire Protection works are being carried out by other trades as an add on to their contract packages, often thrown in for a nominal sum at the contract negotiation stage to aid in securing themselves the work. Whilst this may appear as “smart business” for clients, we are seeing time and time again that works are being carried out incorrectly – thus rendering them useless and leaving the end user in danger in the event of a fire.

Please do not take the risk of having inadequate protection – use a certified accredited installer – it’s people lives that are potentially at risk!!
