Introduction

The College of Policing, the professional body for policing, offers a range of training courses, programmes, and learning opportunities. Their primary training facility is located in Ryton, Coventry. A recent third-party survey identified fire safety issues within the Cannock building, necessitating immediate action.

To address the identified fire safety concerns, the College of Policing engaged Miller Knight as the Principal Contractor. The project required all site personnel to hold NPPV Level 2 security clearance, ensuring a secure and compliant work environment.

Service Provided

As Principal Contractor, Miller Knight undertook the following scope of works:

Fire-Rated Partitions and Door-Sets: Installation of fire-rated partitions and door-sets in communal corridor areas on the lower floors to enhance fire safety.

Fire Curtains: Design and installation of fire curtains to provide additional fire protection.

LED Lighting Upgrade: Modernisation of lighting systems with energy-efficient LED solutions.

Fire Alarm Upgrade: Comprehensive upgrade of the existing fire alarm system to meet current safety standards.

Suspended Ceiling Alteration: Modifications to the suspended ceilings to accommodate new safety installations.

Decoration: Interior decoration to ensure the aesthetic appeal of the facility post-upgrade.

Project Outcomes

FIRAS Certification: The project was completed with a FIRAS certificate of conformity, affirming the quality and compliance of the fire safety installations.

Timely Completion: The project was delivered within the agreed timescales, demonstrating Miller Knight’s commitment to efficiency and client satisfaction.
