What's so good about being FIRAS certified?

We're certainly proud to be FIRAS certified, but what does it mean? FIRAS certified contractors are required to undergo a three-stage assessment process, and only when the applicant contractor has satisfied all of these criteria is certification granted: These criteria include: Assessment of office management systems Assessment of workmanship of site for all trade disciplines for which certification is soughtCompetence assessment of supervisory and installation employees. FIRAS certified contractors are subject to an annual audit of their offices and ongoing, random surveillance site inspections where competence and workmanship are assessed. You can read more about it here, on their website! If you have any queries or questions, feel free to contact us at enquiries@miller-knight.com

Jim Dawson and Shay Stevens took a morning out to transport the much-needed goods over to Canterbury Food Bank's main warehouse, and the necessities were very well received...so much so that we received a wonderful handwritten letter of thanks from the Food Bank. National Apprenticeship Week 2019 - Energise

It's Day 5 of #NAW2019 and we are looking at how Apprentices Energise our other Operatives within the workplace. We asked David Dickson, our Managing Director, to explain what the cultural impact on our business has been. "The cultural impact has definitely been noticeable for us. The Engineers we currently employ have felt an added sense of responsibility and pride over each apprentice they have mentored, and the subsequent quality that they produce. We have noticed that this has actually improved the performance of many Operatives in order for them set a good example to the newer recruits, which was an unexpected, but welcome, bonus. " We've really had a wonderful week reflecting on the impact our Apprentices have had to our business,…

"We are really passionate about what we do, as what we do is ultimately life-saving. It is therefore critical that the work we produce is to the highest of standards, and our apprentices are taught to strive for this, and to appreciate and be ever mindful of what the work they do is there for. Reiterating the importance of our work really ensures that high standards are maintained, and the passion our apprentices have for the safety of the public really…

"My apprenticeship with Miller Knight has had a huge impact on various aspects of my life. It was a big decision for me to move to an Apprenticeship, but I felt it was a great way for me to step into a new trade. Since being here, it's really apparent that there's a great path of progression, and Miller Knight is already showing me how I can progress once I have completed my Apprenticeship with…

National Apprenticeship Week 2019 - Learn

It's Day 2 of #NAW2019 and we are looking at what we can Learn from having Apprentices in the workplace. We asked David Dickson, our Managing Director, what he has learned through hiring an apprentice, and what learnings would hepass on to others considering it. "I've learned that not everyone will make it, and for those who do, you will need to have shown a lot of patience throughout the process to have allowed them to grow and eventually thrive. I would pass on, from my experience, to have this patience; with your support and guidance, they will make it eventually." Join us tomorrow for Day 3 of #NAW2019!!
