What's so good about being FIRAS certified?

We're certainly proud to be FIRAS certified, but what does it mean? FIRAS certified contractors are required to undergo a three-stage assessment process, and only when the applicant contractor has satisfied all of these criteria is certification granted: These criteria include: Assessment of office management systems Assessment of workmanship of site for all trade disciplines for which certification is soughtCompetence assessment of supervisory and installation employees. FIRAS certified contractors are subject to an annual audit of their offices and ongoing, random surveillance site inspections where competence and workmanship are assessed. You can read more about it here, on their website! If you have any queries or questions, feel free to contact us at enquiries@miller-knight.com

Miller Knight delivers food donations to Canterbury Food Bank

Earlier this year we spoke about our commitment to supporting the communities where we work the most and this started with the Canterbury Food Bank. After lots of planning from our Sales Executive, Kirsty Blair, and armed with a huge shopping list, we sent 2 of our brilliant team from our Canterbury Site, to collect, and deliver the (rather enormous!) order! Jim Dawson and Shay Stevens took a morning out to transport the much-needed goods over to Canterbury Food Bank's main warehouse, and the necessities were very well received...so much so that we received a wonderful handwritten letter of thanks from the Food Bank. There is no better feeling that knowing you can make a difference for those who are having a hard…

It's Day 5 of #NAW2019 and we are looking at how Apprentices Energise our other Operatives within the workplace. We asked David Dickson, our Managing Director, to explain what the cultural impact on our business has been. "The cultural impact has definitely been noticeable for us. The Engineers we currently employ have felt an added sense of responsibility and pride over each apprentice they have mentored, and the subsequent quality that they produce. We have noticed that this has actually improved the performance of many Operatives in order for them set a good example to the newer recruits, which was an unexpected, but welcome, bonus. " We've really had a wonderful week reflecting on the impact our Apprentices have had to our business,…

We asked David Dickson, our Managing Director, what he has learned through hiring an apprentice, and what learnings would hepass on to others considering it.
